About The Position

The Life Fitness / Hammer Strength Internship Program 2026 is now accepting applicants in their junior and senior year. We are seeking enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our team as summer interns. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in Embedded Software Engineering, develop valuable skills, and contribute to Life Fitness / Hammer Strength’s mission and goals. Successful applicants will be assigned meaningful and challenging work suitable for their background. The program advisor(s) and mentors will meet with you regularly to identify and develop your summer objectives. This position is paid and based in the Schaumburg, IL area. The Internship Program will run for three (3) months.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in full-time software development related (ex. Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, etc.) bachelor’s degree program, graduating in 2024 or 2025.
  • Good academic standing, GPA 3.5 or higher.
  • Initiative, positive attitude and eagerness to learn.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to adapt well to different situations and thrive in a challenging, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in the day-to-day development related activities of the embedded software team.
  • Participate in reviews.
  • Implement software changes as requested in JIRA tickets.
  • Conduct development testing of the changes.
  • Conduct software integration testing.
  • Assist in software build and release process.
  • Assist in the documentation of high-level design of major functions.
  • Actively contribute and have an impact in a business-critical project.
  • Perform day-to-day duties and responsibilities in related field or business function.
  • Collaborate with fellow interns on a ten-week-long group case study and present the results to senior leaders, stakeholders, and managers.
  • Attend and participate in team meetings.
