The Embedded Software Engineer Intern position at IDEXX offers a unique opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in the R&D Instrument Software Organization. Interns will participate in the software development lifecycle, contributing to innovative product development aimed at enhancing veterinary health care. This role emphasizes collaboration within a fast-paced, Agile environment, allowing interns to work on complex engineering problems and improve the quality of life for pets through advanced diagnostic testing.

  • Participate in the software development lifecycle of a product.
  • Work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Contribute to engineering solutions for IDEXX's veterinary products.
  • Gain exposure to low-level embedded software development, security, application development, and DevOps.
  • Utilize various development tools, languages, and data architectures.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Completed at least one year of college in a technical major related to software engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or electrical engineering.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with an emphasis on product development.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for coordinating across teams.
  • Experience using one or more software languages such as Python, C, C++, Go, JavaScript, and shell scripting.
  • Basic familiarity with Linux shell commands.
  • Familiarity with relational or non-relational database technologies.
  • Experience with data formats and structures (CSV, XLS, JSON).
  • Some exposure to cyber-security techniques and topics.
