About The Position

The Principle for Safety (PFS) Support role at CACI involves providing engineering support to ensure the safety of new ships and ship systems. The position requires performing system safety engineering tasks, conducting hazard analyses, and developing safety requirements to mitigate risks. The role emphasizes collaboration with team leads and participation in safety working groups to address safety challenges and ensure compliance with military standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in ESOH Management or Systems Safety Engineering or equivalent degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in systems safety management, preferably in the maritime industry.
  • Experience with technical documentation development and review, including specifications and engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge of MIL-STD-882E and its outlined tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 applications including Teams, SharePoint, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with the DoD/DoN acquisitions process and ship construction programs.
  • Experience applying MIL-STD-882E tasks to Navy ships and systems design.
  • Experience with safety and program risk management processes.
  • Knowledge of maritime/Navy afloat operations.
  • Experience in an ESOH, HAZMAT, HSI, or Safety management role.

Responsibilities

  • Perform System Safety Engineering tasks and analysis to ensure compliance with system safety requirements.
  • Develop safety requirements to eliminate or reduce hazard risk to an acceptable level based on system requirements and military standards.
  • Prepare internal and customer reports detailing analyses relevant to the System Safety Program.
  • Interface with Team Leads to understand product architecture and design issues.
  • Utilize technical knowledge to solve safety challenges with optimal solutions.
  • Conduct assessments to identify hazards and manage hazard risk reduction plans.
  • Participate in engineering and system safety working groups to resolve system safety issues.
