Established in 1964 as the first public university in southeast Florida, Florida Atlantic University serves 30,000 undergraduate and graduate students on six campuses along Florida's beautiful southeast coast in Broward, Palm Beach, and St. Lucie counties. The Florida Atlantic University Libraries have prioritized working collaboratively with an R1 campus community on a Top 100 research initiative that includes a highly library-engaged campus and community environment. Florida Atlantic Libraries house approximately 3.7 million items and provide access to over 80,000 electronic journals, nearly 500 databases, and a growing collection of e-books and streaming videos. The Libraries house many distinctive collections, including artists’ books, sound recordings, print music, rare books and manuscripts, and University Archives. The Digital Initiatives and Scholarship Unit provides the Research Hub learning space for graduate students, post-docs, doctoral students, researchers, visiting scholars, and community users. In addition, this unit creates online collections from unique materials held in Special Collections and University Archives, serving as the University's repository for intellectual output generated on campus including Florida Atlantic University created journals and curated displays. Reporting directly to the Assistant Dean for Access, Research, and Learning Services, with input from the College of Nursing, this role is uniquely positioned to advance the research mission of the Florida Atlantic Libraries as an embedded librarian in the College of Nursing. In addition to nursing collection development, liaison, and library instruction duties for the College of Nursing, the position will serve as a co-author regarding systematic reviews, research partner, and evidence-based practice expert, and lead the management of the College’s historical legacy of the Caring Archives, which is housed in the College of Nursing. The successful candidate will have a unique combination of health sciences library expertise, archival management skills, and research collaboration experience. This role requires proficiency in library instruction, collection development, and library liaison responsibilities. In addition, this position requires experience in literature searching, evidence synthesis, and academic publishing. The Embedded Librarian for Nursing will also facilitate the preservation of the College of Nursing’s historical records and artifacts while fostering a deeper connection between the College of Nursing and the Libraries.
