Zebra's embedded firmware team is looking for an extraordinary manager with a passion for leading a high-caliber embedded Firmware Development Team to deliver exceptional customer value. The team is responsible for developing new embedded firmware features for our industry's leading mobile and stationary printer products. This is an opportunity to work with printing systems, connectivity technologies, and protocols relating to 802.11, Bluetooth, Ethernet, RFID, and more. Lead and influence this dynamic team's innovation, best practices, and continuous improvement to deliver quality solutions to internal and external customers. Successful candidates are organized, technically astute leaders who are passionate to make a difference in the development of the team and the value we deliver to our customers. Develops, designs, evaluates, and/or modifies firmware/software in development consistent with customer and regulatory requirements. Develops and oversees product design and ensures the integrity of the design. Work is evaluated upon completion to ensure objectives have been met. Determines and develops approach to solutions. Location: Role is required to be onsite in Lincolnshire, IL (Hybrid- Minimum of 3 days in the office per week).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 6+ years of experience OR Master's degree with 4+ years of experience
  • Embedded Firmware Software Engineering experience
  • Programming language experience; C++
  • Engineering People Management experience

Responsibilities

  • Directs and controls the activities of an embedded firmware development team within a functional discipline and product group
  • Contributes to the development of policy innovation and integrated business solutions. Manages people and/or product development initiatives
  • Develops and establishes operational policies within area managed, and delegates assignments. Accountable for and contributes toward profitability and/or cost containment by indirectly impacting the P&L through Account, Product Line, Research and Development, Operations or functional management
  • Develops and implements programs/solutions to improve processes, reduce costs and cycle time, and improve customer service
  • Internally recognized leader who exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results
  • Significant knowledge in function, product, technology service, strategy, and business complexities in order to contribute to the development of creative solutions in area of expertise
