About The Position

The Chassis Systems team is looking for an Embedded Software Engineer for vertical actuator control development. As an Embedded Developer on the team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality embedded code that controls suspension and damping actuators using various vehicle sensors, influencing ride, handling, and overall vehicle dynamics (including longitudinal, vertical, and lateral aspects). You will be challenged to write efficient, safe, and robust code with a physics-based architecture that follows first principles, works seamlessly across multiple vehicle platforms, and enables data-driven decisions while triaging between parallel efforts. You will integrate sensors and motor controls, realize safety mechanisms on embedded targets, and solve complex problems spanning vehicle dynamics, motor controls, safety systems, and embedded software engineering. You will also drive design decisions on the vehicle electrical architecture, microcontroller selection, software architecture, and PCB design. Come join an industry-defining software team that strives to build the safest and most performant vehicle control systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or similar areas of study, or equivalent experience
  • Proficiency in C
  • Proficiency with git
  • Hands-on experience with microcontroller peripherals such as ADCs, CAN, GPIOs, PWM, and SPI
  • Experience working with electrical schematics and understanding circuit behavior
  • Experience working with sensors and digital signal processing
  • Experience working with Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS)

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with MISRA C and Python are a plus
  • Experience working with PID controllers and other control loops is a plus
  • Knowledge of build systems (SCons, Bazel, Buck) are a plus

Responsibilities

  • Develop high-quality, safety-critical software for the RTOS, sensor and motor actuation drivers
  • Perform hands-on hardware bring-up, board-level debugging, and code optimization
  • Perform bench and PCB-in-the-loop testing for verification of developed software
  • Make performance and optimization trade-offs to meet product requirements
  • Design appropriate abstractions to allow code reuse across different vehicle platforms
  • Develop software with test-driven verification and automated validation testing
  • Specify vehicle sensor, actuator, and computational performance requirements
  • Analyze system performance (physical and compute) against requirements
