About The Position

Take ownership of a high fidelity end-to-end model & simulation for various phased array and radar applications; develop and integrate signal processing functions and conduct sub-system trade studies; act as system engineer to guide architecture design decisions and define requirements on proposals; apply appropriate standards, processes, procedures and tools throughout the system development life cycle to support the generation of such engineering applications and products such as Radio Frequency (RF) and digital applications. Key Responsibilities Conceptualize, design and implement digital systems, circuits and components. Write, simulate, test and debug VHDL firmware. Design and implement firmware for real-time applications, controlling devices such as digital synthesizers, A/Ds, D/As, temperature sensors, flash memories and potentiometers. Support integrating digital systems with other hardware and software components. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues. Identify and resolve design flaws, performance, compatibility or reliability issues. Create clear and concise detailed design documentation, including schematics, diagrams, interface descriptions and specifications. Prepare and present technical reports and presentations. Keep up to date with the latest advancements in digital technology and industry standards. Learn and apply new tools, techniques and software applications. Collaborate with team members, ensuring effective communication and coordination. Integrate data converter models from third party vendors such as Analog Devices and Texas Instruments. Develop signal processing backend functions such as digital beamforming, direction finding, tracking, and communications. Conduct system level trade studies with CAES RF devices as hardware-in-the-loop using prototype hardware. Develop System Level Architectures for sub-system designs. Assist in cost and scheduling for new program by reviewing customer specifications; become familiar with schedules and budget costs. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics or similiar degree.
  • Two years of related experience coding VHDL/Verilog using Xilinx Vivado or Intel Quartus development software.
  • Two years of digital hardware design and implementation.
  • Knowledge of hardware interfaces like UART, I2C and SPI.
  • Familiar with components such as ADC, DAC, Temperature sensor and digital potentiometers.
  • Experience with debugging tools such as DMM, oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
  • Problem solving and ability to analyze complex problems and find effective solutions.
  • This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by US export law. In order to be eligible for this position, you must be a "US Person" under US export laws (or eligible for approval under a U.S. Government export license).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Five (5) years of experience working with RF/Microwave systems (analog to digital converters (ADCs), digital to analog converts (DACs) or knowledge of RF front end signal flow).
  • Five (5) years of experience in system engineering with the following modeling and design tools: Matlab, Ansys HFSS, Xilinx System Generator.
  • Active security clearance.
  • Exposure to a networked environment using a Windows and/or Windows like interface using Microsoft office suite.
