About The Position

In Virginia Tech's Division of Student Affairs, we're guiding, nurturing, and supporting students as they learn and grow into the leaders and world-changers of today and tomorrow. We're currently searching for a Mental Health Professional to join our counseling team in Blacksburg, VA to help us in our mission. The Residential Well-being (RWB) model at Virginia Tech is an innovative, wrap-around approach to inclusion, belonging, and mental health support in the campus environment. You'll be joining the Thomas E. Cook Counseling Center team, a department committed to a spirit of excellence in providing timely and relevant university mental health services. You will be an embedded counselor in the department of Residential Well-being. You'll be reporting to the Director and RWB coordinator in a regular twelve-month, 100% administrative professional appointment. You'll be responsible for providing individual services to students including initial assessment and treatment planning; conducting individual, couples, and group psychotherapy to students; conducting crisis interventions and after-hours on-call rotations as needed; providing outreach and trainings to the university community. You'll work 2-11 pm Monday through Thursday and 8-5 on Friday. Weekly meetings will include Cook Counseling staff meetings, small group supervision, as well as various RWB meetings. You'll be offered a base compensation package between $55,000 - $65,000 along with free, residential housing with utilities on the VA Tech Blacksburg campus and a comprehensive benefits package which includes health insurance, paid leave, retirement, tuition assistance, VT discounts, and so much more!

Requirements

  • Masters degree in clinical or counseling psychology or social work.
  • Eligibility for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • Supervised experience in a mental health setting.
