About The Position
South Seattle College is seeking an Embedded Career Specialist to join the WorkSource Education department. This full-time position offers a salary range of $69,756 to $78,610 annually, depending on experience. The initial review of applications will begin on September 6th, and early applications are encouraged as the position will remain open until filled. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis, as the employer will not sponsor work visas. The Embedded Career Specialist will serve as the primary contact for specific educational sectors, focusing on career readiness, internship placement, and job placement. This role requires building relationships with professional-technical faculty, college administrators, community partners, employers, and the diverse student body at South Seattle College. The career services are integrated into the curriculum of various professional-technical programs, necessitating that the specialist provide services such as appointments, workshops, industry tours, and hiring events in predetermined campus locations during class time, with prior instructor collaboration. The position is particularly focused on supporting students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, first-generation college students, non-traditional aged students, English language learners, undocumented individuals, and those transitioning from correctional facilities. South Seattle College is proud to be a designated Veterans Support campus and an Asian American Native American Pacific Islander serving institution (AANAPISI), prioritizing the learning needs of diverse populations. This exempt position may require working afternoons, evenings, and weekends for career events, and is funded through grants, with continuation contingent on funding availability. The role is primarily on-campus, with occasional remote work permitted only with supervisor authorization. This position is governed by a Collective Bargaining Agreement with representation by AFT-SPS and is subject to union shop provisions.
