About The Position

If you are an Embedded C++ Developer professional looking for an opportunity to grow, we have an exciting opportunity for you in Austin, TX! As an Embedded C++ Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining embedded firmware for a variety of devices in Emerson's flagship DeltaV control system. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to implement innovative solutions and ensure the reliability and performance of our products. Emerson is a global company dedicated to making the world a better place. Our Distributed Control Systems are used by many of the top companies in chemical, life sciences and energy industries. They consist of a variety of rich desktop and web applications used for engineering and operating a process control system, plus real-time embedded firmware in controllers and field devices directly controlling the process. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer/Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a related engineering degree AND 7+ years of relevant experience OR Master’s degree in Computer/Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related engineering degree AND 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience designing and developing embedded real-time firmware/software in C/C++
  • Excellent problem-solving, debugging and written & verbal communication skills
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future

Nice To Haves

  • Strong background in networking and communication protocols
  • Experience in test driven development and agile process
  • Experience with commercial real-time embedded operating systems (QNX, Linux or similar)

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and test embedded software for new and existing products.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers to ensure hardware and software integration.
  • Optimize code for performance and memory usage.
  • Troubleshoot and debug system software.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement.
