Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry. This segment is classified into two main product groupings - carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a degree in Supply Chain, Manufacturing or Engineering (or related field)
  • Must be available for 10 weeks during Summer 2026 (May-August 2026) with a graduation date of December 2026 or later
  • Be interested in working for Corning, Inc after graduation, if presented with a full-time job opportunity
  • Be willing to work at the posted job location
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint and Word)

Responsibilities

  • Learn and apply basic concepts of supply chain management under the guidance of experienced team members.
  • Assist in coordinating schedules between customer service teams, suppliers, manufacturing plants, and shipping departments to meet customer requirements.
  • Use tools like MRP (Material Requirements Planning) systems to help develop purchasing plans or production schedules as needed. Training will be provided!
  • Help monitor raw material inventory levels and finished goods stock based on business needs or strategic stocking decisions.
  • Collaborate with team members to resolve simple material availability issues across different production lines.
  • Participate in discussions about long-term supply challenges alongside senior staff members.
  • Provide support for new product launches by helping coordinate materials required for final release into manufacturing processes.
  • Assist with product transfer activities between facilities by working closely with regional planners on schedule alignment and inventory tracking.
  • Contribute ideas during brainstorming sessions aimed at solving business problems using input from mentors or supervisors.
  • Observe how continuous improvement programs (like Lean principles) are applied within a professional environment; contribute small-scale suggestions where possible!
