About The Position

The ELL Associate position focuses on translating documents and interpreting conversations between English and a student's or family's first language. Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Experience with translating and interpreting
• Successful experience working with students preferred
• Ability to translate materials to and from English
• Ability to interpret conversations to and from English
• Knowledge of different cultures and ability to share that knowledge with students and staff
• Interest and ability to work effectively with students who are learning English
• Ability to work effectively with parents, students, and staff
• Ability to follow directions and work without close supervision
• Ability to maintain accurate student records as directed
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Understanding of English language development
• Ability to utilize Google Suite tools (docs, sheets, forms)

Nice To Haves

• Para educator certificate desired
• Successful use of Google documents and sheets preferred

Responsibilities

• Translate written materials to and from English
• Interpret conversations to and from English
• Act as a liaison between the school district and English Learner families
• Assist with daily classroom routines and supervision of students
• Assist with individual students or groups as instructed
• Maintain confidentiality
• Use technology as needed
• Assist in maintaining an orderly classroom
• Administer individual tests from general education classroom as needed
• Collaborate with ESL and general education teachers
• Assist students with academic tasks
• Perform other duties as assigned
