Requirements

• Must possess current license as required by state board where services will be provided: WV: Pharmacist license through the West Virginia State Board of Pharmacy.

• Two (2) years’ experience in a retail pharmacy setting.

Responsibilities

• Committed to implementing and providing high standards of customer service to all patients allowing them to feel important and appreciated.
• Develops and maintains professional relationships with other health care professionals including physicians and nurses.
• Reviews and interprets the prescriber’s order for clarity, rationality, dosage, and form.
• Checks for potential drug-drug, drug-food, drug-disease, and drug-age interactions.
• Communicates with the prescriber when questions arise pertaining to the prescription (non-formulary medications, allergies, serious interactions, duplication).
• Collaborates with other health care professionals to plan, monitor, review, and evaluate the quality and effectiveness of drug regimens.
• Follows state and federal laws.
• Provides education information and advice regarding drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and proper storage of medications to patients according to state and federal laws.
• Orders and purchases medications and supplies.
• Participates in the monthly schedule II narcotic audits and yearly physical inventory process.
• Supervises the work of pharmacy technicians, technician trainees, and interns.
• In the absence of the pharmacy manager, assumes managerial responsibilities.
• Demonstrates flexibility in response to changes in work volume, emergencies, staffing, or scheduling changes.
