About The Position

The Elite Automotive Technician at DriveTime is responsible for performing comprehensive mechanical inspections and advanced repairs on vehicles without direct customer interaction. This role focuses on ensuring vehicle safety and drivability, while also documenting findings and collaborating with management to assess repair needs. The technician will work in a team-oriented environment, emphasizing attention to detail and timely execution of repairs.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Vocational/Technical degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Valid driver's license and a good driving record.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience performing light to medium line work on all makes and models.
  • Ownership of a personal tool set.

Nice To Haves

  • ASE certification is a plus but not required.
  • Experience working in a high-functioning team environment.
  • Detail-oriented mindset and regular attendance.

Responsibilities

  • Mechanically inspecting vehicles for safety and drivability while documenting findings into the inventory management system.
  • Working with Reconditioning Center Management to repair or reject inventory based on estimated cost of repairs and overall vehicle quality.
  • Performing advanced automotive repairs on various vehicle systems including cooling, braking, charging, steering/suspension, AC, and electrical components.
  • Identifying and completing repairs effectively the first time to minimize re-work and delays in production.
  • Test driving repaired vehicles to ensure that the problem has been completely fixed.
  • Maintaining a safe work environment by minimizing hazards and preventing injuries.
