Join our team of bright, committed, and energetic people who also want to make an impact through public service. Under general supervision, persons in this position determine initial and continuing eligibility for public assistance benefit programs including Medi-Cal, CalFresh, foster care, AAP, Kin-GAP, and CalWORKs. Duties include gathering personal information from applicants and beneficiaries through face-to-face interviews, telephone contact, and mailed correspondence, as well as entering the information gathered into a computer system used to determine program eligibility. Persons in this position must also learn, interpret, and apply relevant rules, regulations and procedures. Persons will identify client needs and make appropriate referrals for health, social and/or employment services. Eligibility Workers may process initial applications, monitor, and administer an assigned workload, and perform other specialized work as assigned. Public Assistance currently has two positions available, one in the foster care unit and one in the continuing units for CalFresh and Medi-Cal.
