The Eligibility Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting and assisting applicants and childcare providers in navigating the eligibility process for various childcare assistance programs, including the Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP), Tiny Boots, and the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). This position is integral to ensuring compliance with guidelines set forth by the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS), Illinois Department of Veteran Affairs (IDVA), and the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE). The specialist will collaborate with various stakeholders, including YWCA staff, human services representatives from DuPage, Lake, and Kane Counties, and other community service providers to facilitate access to necessary resources for families and childcare providers throughout the Chicagoland area. In this role, the Eligibility Specialist will be responsible for responding to inquiries from clients and providers, evaluating their needs, and providing timely assistance. This includes determining eligibility for childcare assistance programs, collecting necessary documentation, and offering technical assistance to ensure a smooth application process. The specialist will also perform administrative duties such as data entry, case management, and monitoring compliance with IDHS policies. The work environment is dynamic, requiring the specialist to engage with clients who may be under stress, necessitating strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently. The position requires a commitment to professional development, with a minimum of fifteen hours of training related to early childhood services required annually.
