About The Position

Under general supervision, the Medicaid Eligibility Specialist determines initial and ongoing eligibility for Medicaid programs. This includes managing case files, verifying documentation, computing income-based budgets, and providing quality customer service. The role may also involve transferring cases to other public assistance units as needed. Why Join Our Team? Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of Medicaid policies, procedures, and eligibility criteria
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in using computers and office equipment
  • Ability to analyze data, solve problems, and make informed decisions
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Commitment to providing respectful, ethical, and culturally sensitive service
  • Completion of 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours at an accredited college or university
  • Equivalent education, training, or experience

Responsibilities

  • Determine eligibility for Medicaid programs using established policies and procedures
  • Process applications, renewals, and changes from start to finish
  • Communicate with clients regarding rights, responsibilities, and program requirements
  • Verify eligibility with limited client contact using available tools and systems
  • Prepare and maintain accurate case documentation and correspondence
  • Respond to client inquiries and resolve issues with professionalism
  • Collaborate with internal staff, external agencies, and community partners
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable rules and regulations
  • Attend hearings, trainings, and meetings as required
