The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is seeking a highly motivated, compassionate, and dedicated individual to join its Access and Eligibility Services (AES) division as an Eligibility Advisor I. This role is crucial in assisting vulnerable Texans by determining their eligibility for essential public assistance programs such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Medicaid for the Elderly and People with Disabilities (MEPD), and general Medicaid. The AES division aims to provide an integrated and streamlined approach to connect individuals with services and supports that promote community living and self-sufficiency, operating on core values of respect, ownership, collaboration, and integrity. Staff are expected to be well-organized, capable of multitasking, adept at learning policy regulations, and able to thrive in a challenging, fast-paced environment while demonstrating strong communication skills, a positive attitude, and a desire to help others. The Eligibility Advisor I position is part of a career track series, with opportunities for advancement to an Eligibility Advisor II position after a one-year probationary period and meeting performance requirements. Applicants with prior AES program eligibility experience at an Eligibility Advisor II level or higher within one year of application may be considered for rehire at that higher level.
