As an H-E-B Store Department Lead, you'll lead a well-stocked, well-maintained department, while providing superior customer service. You'll also perform supervisory responsibilities, such as scheduling work, and training / developing Partners. Once you're eligible, you'll become an Owner in the company, so we're looking for commitment, hard work, and focus on quality and Customer service. Requirements

  • Minimum age 18.
  • Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or 6+ months of related experience and/or training.
  • Expert knowledge of department production stations, including quality standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents (e.g., safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions).
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or Partners.
  • Ability to apply common sense/understanding to carry out instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong knowledge of nursery field (for Texas Backyard department).
  • Strong knowledge of plant and chemical recommendations (for Texas Backyard department).
  • Ability to complete Texas Nursery & Landscape Association training.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a well-stocked, well-maintained department while providing superior customer service.
  • Perform supervisory responsibilities such as scheduling work and training/developing Partners.
  • Assist with inventory control; load, unload, and move product.
  • Train Partners; direct work; address complaints; resolve issues.
  • Provide coaching on superior customer service.
  • Take orders from customers by telephone or in person.
  • Answer customer questions regarding products; assist them with selections.
  • Use suggestive selling techniques and advanced product knowledge to meet customer needs.
  • Slice, package, label, rotate, and cull products for poor quality.
  • Comply with department/Store operating procedures.
  • Clean/sanitize sales floor, display cases, prep areas, and equipment.
