About The Position

The Elevator Superintendent directs the operational activities in Bean Receiving, Bean Storage, Meal Storage and Loading and Railyard and is also responsible for management of scales in those areas as well as the day to day activities of the grain elevator operations (grain loading/unloading, sampling, grading, transferring, blending, and storage). The Elevator Superintendent is responsible for maintaining a safe, sanitary workplace in compliance with company policies and regulatory agencies (OSHA, EPA, DNR, DOT, etc.), oversees communications with commercial/transportation to ensure rail and truck traffic into and out of the plant, oversees the bean receiving personnel and is the ADM Frankfort Oilseeds primary point of contact for rail service contractors. The Elevator Superintendent is also responsible for training and leading hourly employees in all areas of operations, including safety, food safety, and facility maintenance, establishing preventative maintenance, sanitation and operation schedules, managing special assignments and initiating improvements to effectively meet operation objectives. Essential Job Functions Prioritize daily focus on employee training, safety, quality, GMP’s, area housekeeping and limiting factors. Ensure long-term focus includes process optimization, cost control, employee development, accident elimination and management-of-change. Provide a balanced focus and emphasis on priorities in operation. Establishes area goals and tracking of performance while providing consistent and immediate feedback on progress towards goals and measures. Identifies significant area trends and cause/effect relationships. Leads troubleshooting efforts as necessary. Celebrates “wins” in the area. Assists in developing a well-trained, efficient and safety-conscious team. Addresses limiting factors and repeating problems. Interacts with peers in other areas to achieve plant objectives and to provide operational stability. Serves as primary contact for maintenance providing guidance on establishment of priorities. Leads continuous improvement efforts in assigned areas. Ensures all areas are in compliance with all Safety, Environmental Regulations and Good Manufacturing Practices. Serves as primary contact for area vendors, suppliers and consultants. Directs area tour preparations and serves as tour host. Maintains a positive, safety-first mindset and an accidents are preventable attitude. Participates in the development of operating and emergency procedures for area. Participates actively in safety and skills training in pursuit of personal improvement Maintains a good working relationship with the rail service provider and 3rd party rail movers Conducts and reports commodity inventories Maintains relevant KPIs to measure success Uses Performance Excellence tools to drive continuous improvement in the facility.

Requirements

  • Prefer a minimum of 3 years of industrial or commercial elevator operations experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must successfully complete all ADM Safety Certification requirements
  • Basic knowledge of process equipment is preferred
  • Excellent safety record and awareness
  • Previous plant/process experience
  • Previous interaction with suppliers and customers
  • Good attendance history
  • Experience leading teams is required
  • Grain storage and movement experience is preferred
  • Rail movement experience is required
  • Effective organizational and communication skills, must be self-motivated
  • Ability to work well with others and with little supervision – (Required)
  • Willingness to assume and learn new responsibilities
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks at once
  • Ability to team build
  • Ability to train other colleagues
  • Ability to delegate and follow-up
  • Housekeeping and sanitation skills (MSS)

  • Working with numerous types of machines and processes
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures (heat and cold temperatures) is required.
  • An ability to perform work at heights, (from catwalks, silos, etc.), climb stairs frequently, lift, stand, walk for extended periods of time is required
