About The Position

As an Elevator Operator, you will assist our construction crews by operating the freight elevator, ensuring the safe and efficient transport of them, equipment, supplies, and goods. This role also provides hands-on support to field crews, assisting with loading/unloading, site preparation, and general labor tasks as directed. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, reliable, and able to work in a fast-paced construction environment in an occupied residential high‑rise project. This role is intended to be a part-time hourly position, based in San Diego, and reports to a Project Manager.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of experience in a similar role
  • Ability to work independently and follow instructions with attention to detail
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work as scheduled
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to support various field tasks with a positive "no job is too big or too small" attitude
  • Proficiency in English, written and spoken, with good communication skills
  • Must be able to regularly lift and carry 50-75 lbs, be capable of working at heights in high‑rise environments, and able to climb stairs and ladders

Nice To Haves

  • prior experience in construction, delivery driving, landscaping, or general labor
  • OSHA 10 certification
  • a high school diploma or GED
  • be proficient in Spanish
  • prior related military experience

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate the freight elevator for construction-related tasks, including transporting team members, equipment, tools, and supplies
  • Safely load, store, organize, and unload materials, ensuring proper handling and securing of items, on the elevator and elsewhere
  • Assist with the safe and timely movement of materials throughout the project
  • Follow all company procedures, safety requirements, and job-site protocols
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers, residents, and others
  • Maintain a professional demeanor, ensuring minimal disruption to residents
  • Perform light cleaning duties related to the elevator and surrounding areas to maintain cleanliness and safety
  • Identify and recommend process improvements, ensuring improved quality and deliverables
