About The Position

The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs. Elevator Operations Engineer will provide engineering support to ensure department equipment (cranes, doors, platforms, and elevators) are properly maintained - available to support KSC operations with a high level of reliability. Engineer will develop work authorization documents (WADs) for department owned equipment to include maintenance job plans, operational job plans, and non-conformance (corrective maintenance) job plans. Provides troubleshooting support for equipment as required and performs task team leader function as required. Experience with troubleshooting PLC based systems to include motor drives. Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (Solumina and Maximo) is highly desired.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; 15 years related experience.
  • State Certified Elevator Technician license.

  • Must be able to work at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Must be able to read, follow and develop work instructions, interpret engineer drawings/schematics, follow and enforce strict work area rules and safety protocols.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, if necessary.
  • Must be able to travel to support position requirements.
  • Will be required to climb stairs to access equipment for trouble shooting, work assignment assessments, engineering evaluations and other engineering applications.
  • Position may involve extended periods of sitting or standing.
