About The Position

A.R. Ware Elementary School is seeking highly qualified applicants for an Elementary Technology Teacher opening for the 2026-27 academic school year. QUALIFICATIONS: Must hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in education or related field. Must be eligible or possess Virginia Collegiate Professional License or Postgraduate Professional License with appropriate endorsement in Elementary PK-6. 200 Day (10-month) Contract beginning late July 2025. Salary Range: $53,033 to $85,512 (based on 2025-26 Salary Scale). STAUNTON CITY PUBLIC SCHOOLS POSITION DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: Elementary Technology Teacher LOCATION: Elementary Schools IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Principal GRADE/RANK: TB 10/TM10 FLSA STATUS: Exempt SUMMARY: Position is responsible for creating a classroom environment that develops in each student an awareness of the role of technology education. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TYPICAL TASKS: The minimum performance expectations include, but are not limited to, the following functions/tasks: Teaches computer science skills and knowledge through technology classes, utilizing curriculum designated by Staunton City Schools and aligned with Virginia Standards of Learning. Develops lesson plans and aligns supplementary materials with curriculum standards. Adapts curriculum to the needs of each student and subgroups of students. Plans a technology education program for students involving high cognitive demand, collaborative work, hands on learning, creating solutions to given problems with a variety of technology devices. Organizes activities for optimal learning. Instructs students in the proper use, care and safe handling of equipment. Evaluates academic growth of students relative to state technology standards, maintaining appropriate records to be included on individual student report cards. Provides for safe storage and proper use of materials, equipment and tools. Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior for a productive learning environment during class sessions and field trips. Communicates with parents and teachers/school counselors on student progress. Supervises students in assigned out of classroom activities during the working day. Models non discriminatory practices in all activities. Other Duties: Expands teacher expertise by attending staff development programs, curriculum development meetings and collaborating with colleagues. Participates in various student and parent activities which occur in and after school including school-wide Title I activities and events. Performs any other related duties as assigned by the Principal or other appropriate administrator. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must possess: thorough knowledge of subject(s) taught; thorough knowledge of the principles and methodology of effective teaching; thorough knowledge of school division rules, regulations and procedures; the ability to establish and maintain standards of behavior; the ability to deliver articulate oral presentations and written reports and; the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, students, administration, and parents. QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Must possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in education or a related field. Must be eligible or possess a Virginia License with a PK-6 elementary endorsement. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Duties performed typically in school settings to include classrooms, gyms, cafeteria, auditorium and recreational areas. While performing this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hand, and talk or hear; light lifting up to 40 pounds and other limited physical activities are required. Movement of students by wheelchairs and other mechanical devices may be required.
