About The Position

The Barrington School District is seeking a creative, student-centered elementary technology teacher for the 2026-27 school year. We are looking for an enthusiastic educator to inspire our youngest learners by fostering curiosity in technology. The ideal candidate will design hands-on, high-quality lessons that build essential digital literacy and problem-solving skills. We value an educator who creates a joyful classroom environment, collaborates well with grade-level teams, and understands how to make complex concepts accessible and engaging for elementary-aged children.

Responsibilities

  • Instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
  • Develops and maintains a classroom environment conducive to effective learning.
  • Prepares written lesson plans extending three days in advance of the instructional use date.
  • Keeps up-to-date lesson plans, and procedural guidelines on hand and available for substitute teachers in cases of teacher absence.
  • Sets and maintains standards of classroom behavior for students.
  • Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
  • Is proficient in the use of educational software including grading and parent communication software and is trained on other technological hardware as needed.
  • Implements by instruction and action the district’s philosophy, vision, and instructional goals and objectives.
  • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Evaluates student progress on a regular basis in a timely manner.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
  • Upholds and enforces school rules, administrative regulations, and School Board policy.
  • Makes provision for being available to students and parents for education related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
  • Attends and participates in all faculty meetings.
  • Cooperates with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
  • Assists in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
  • Works to establish and maintain open lines of communication with assigned students and their parents concerning both academic and behavioral progress.
  • Provide for his/her own professional growth through an ongoing program of reading, workshops, seminars, conferences, and/or advanced course work at institutions of higher learning.
  • Assists principal or designee in formulating the school budget.
  • Establishes and maintains cooperative relations with others.
  • Meets expectations of supervisory model
  • Performs other duties as assigned by principal, designee, or superintendent.
  • Adheres to the implementation of students 504/Special Education plans and appropriately communicates and plans with service providers and paraprofessionals
