About RACS Rochester Academy Charter School (RACS) is a public charter school, primarily serving students from the city of Rochester. Over 90% of our students identify as an individual of color. We are a college preparatory school and use data to determine how best to foster student growth. RACS seeks to prepare all graduates for active citizenship. We are seeking teacher assistants who are self-directed, committed, and independent.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field is a plus).
• Experience working with students, preferably in an educational setting.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with children and build positive relationships.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting student growth and development.
• Flexibility and the ability to adapt to changing needs and priorities.
• Excellent daily attendance

Nice To Haves

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field is a plus
• Knowledge of instructional strategies and interventions is an advantage.
• First Aid and CPR certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with teachers to support the implementation of lesson plans and instructional activities.
• Assist in the preparation of instructional materials and resources.
• Provide individual and small group support to students with diverse learning needs.
• Assist with classroom management and behavior management strategies.
• Support students with personal care and other specialized needs, as required.
• Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement and social-emotional development.
• Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers.
• Collaborate with teachers and other team members to implement accommodations and modifications for students with special needs.
• Attend professional development sessions and staff meetings as required.
