About The Position

The 6th Grade Elementary Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction aligned to Arizona State standards, fostering a supportive and engaging classroom environment, and helping students develop academic and social skills in preparation for junior high school. The teacher works collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and administrators to ensure student success. In addition to core academic responsibilities, the teacher actively contributes to the school community through student supervision and participation in extracurricular activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Education or related field required.
  • Valid Arizona Teaching Certificate (Elementary Education, Grades 1–8 or K–8).
  • SEI (Structured English Immersion) endorsement or ability to obtain.
  • Fingerprint clearance card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
  • Strong understanding of child development and best practices in instruction.
  • Ability to create inclusive and differentiated learning environments.
  • Skilled in classroom management and student engagement.
  • Familiarity with Arizona Academic Standards and state assessment requirements.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons in core subjects such as English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies aligned with Arizona Academic Standards.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs and styles of all students, including those with IEPs and ELLs.
  • Use formative and summative assessments to evaluate student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of student attendance, grades, and academic progress.
  • Create a positive classroom culture that promotes respect, responsibility, and academic risk-taking.
  • Implement district-approved curriculum and instructional practices.
  • Integrate technology to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress, behavior, and classroom events.
  • Participate in professional development, grade-level meetings, and school-wide initiatives.
  • Collaborate with support staff, interventionists, and administrators to address individual student needs.
  • Adhere to district policies, procedures, and Arizona Department of Education regulations.
  • Supervise students in the classroom, on campus, and at school events as assigned.
  • Develops lesson plans and appropriate instructional aids and where appropriate laboratory learning methods.
  • Provides opportunities, when needed, for individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
  • Design learning activities relevant to the real world.
  • Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment.
  • Evaluates each student’s progress in accordance with the District Policies and Guidelines.
  • Communicates with parents or guardians the progress of each child.
  • Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude and learning problems.
  • Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities
  • Conducts such duties as described above in the area/subject/grade assigned under the supervision of the building administrator.
  • Maintains records on all students as required by the District.
  • Perform other related or unrelated tasks as assigned by the Principal.
  • Direct Instructional Assistants in work assignments as needed.
