About The Position

To provide direct instruction to students at the elementary level in order to deliver Framingham Public Schools’ high expectations for achievement, equal access to high levels of instruction, the achievement of academic proficiency for all students, and the closing of the achievement gap among subgroups within the schools. Support team, school, and district initiatives, provide support to all students’ academic, behavioral, social, emotional and mental health needs to ensure the development of the whole child while adhering to the district’s curriculum. Requirements

  • Valid Massachusetts Teaching License in: Early Childhood (if grades K-2) with SEI Endorsement, and/or Elementary (if grades 1-5) with SEI Endorsement
  • Framingham Public Schools seeks candidates whose background, teaching, or service has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to diversity, inclusion, and belonging in all aspects of education.
  • At least a Bachelor’s Degree in the area of major study.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to present information clearly and respond effectively to questions from students, staff, parents, and community members.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional literature, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
  • Sound reasoning and problem-solving skills to evaluate information, define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and recommend appropriate courses of action.
  • Capacity to use professional literature, evidence-based research, and ongoing professional learning to inform instructional and practice decisions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive, effective working relationships with students, families, colleagues, and the community.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects.
  • Commitment to performing all duties in compliance with district requirements, state and federal laws, and Framingham Public Schools policies.
  • Demonstrated cultural proficiency and competence in working with students and families from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and student records.
  • Professionalism and composure in responding to unpredictable or challenging situations.
  • Proficiency in using technology and willingness to learn new tools; ability to operate a computer and utilize software, including Google Workspace for Education.
  • Willingness to plan, coordinate, and participate in ongoing professional learning, coaching, and staff development.
  • Experience in evaluating student skills, interpreting assessment data, and writing clear, concise reports.
  • Strong collaborative, instructional, coaching, and leadership skills to support student programming.
  • Ability to use data effectively to inform instructional decisions and improve student outcomes.
  • Knowledge of specialized content areas, relevant laws, and educational procedures.
  • Ability to plan and implement lessons that align with district and school goals.
  • Proficiency in integrating instructional technology to enhance teaching and learning.
  • A proactive, reflective, and solution-focused approach to supporting student growth and success.

Responsibilities

  • Plans a comprehensive program of study to meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of all students.
  • Develops schemes of work, lesson plans, and tests in accordance with established procedures and curriculum goals.
  • Establishes and communicates clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and learning activities to students.
  • Employs instructional methods and materials that are appropriate for meeting stated objectives.
  • Plans, prepares, and delivers lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning.
  • Instructs and monitors students in the effective use of learning materials and equipment.
  • Uses relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Provides a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities.
  • Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
  • Manages student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing clear rules and procedures.
  • Maintains discipline in accordance with school rules.
  • Develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure.
  • Prepares the classroom for class activities.
  • Actively works to create a classroom environment that is inclusive and equitable for all students.
  • Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis.
  • Assigns and grades class work, homework, tests, and assignments.
  • Observes and evaluates students' performance and development.
  • Encourages and monitors the progress of individual students and adjusts teaching strategies accordingly.
  • Provides appropriate and timely feedback on student work.
  • Maintains accurate and complete records of students' progress and development.
  • Updates all necessary records accurately as required by laws and district policies.
  • Consults with colleagues, students, and parents regularly.
  • Communicates necessary information to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and needs.
  • Encourages parent and community involvement and promptly returns communications.
  • Participates in department, school, district, and parent meetings.
  • Assists the administration in implementing all policies governing student life and conduct.
  • Demonstrates preparation and skill in working with students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Participates in professional activities and staff development programs.
  • Attends staff meetings and serves on staff and/or school committees.
  • Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for teacher aide(s) and/or volunteer(s).
  • Participates in extracurricular activities as directed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
