About The Position

St. Mary School, located at 700 South 3rd Street, in Columbus, is seeking a dedicated, faith-filled Elementary Teacher (Preschool-3rd Grade) to join our Catholic school community. The ideal candidate will create a nurturing, structured, and engaging classroom environment that supports the academic, spiritual, and social development of young learners. This teacher will integrate Catholic values and teachings into daily instruction while fostering a love of learning. The job goal is to assist students in mastering the skills and information in the school curriculum while helping them to grow in faith and responsibility.

Requirements

Valid teaching certification
Current satisfactory BCI & FBI background checks
Have attended or be willing to attend a Virtus Protecting God's Children training
Practicing Catholic or willingness to support Catholic school mission
Strong classroom management and communication skills
Appropriate state certification/license as required by the grade levels and subjects taught
Religious Education certification as required by the diocese

Nice To Haves

Early Childhood or Elementary Education background preferred
Experience in Preschool–Primary grades
Familiarity with Catholic or faith-based education

Responsibilities

Plan and deliver developmentally appropriate lessons for Preschool through 3rd Grade
Incorporate Catholic teachings and values into all subject areas
Foster a positive, faith-centered classroom environment
Assess student progress and maintain communication with parents/guardians
Collaborate with faculty and staff to support the school’s mission
Know, understand and contribute to the integration of Catholic teachings and virtues throughout the curriculum and school culture as it supports faith formation and student learning.
Understand student learning, development, and faith formation while respecting the diversity of students.
Know and understand the content for which they have instructional responsibility.
Understand and use varied assessments to inform instruction, evaluate and ensure student learning.
Plan and deliver effective instruction that advances the learning of each individual student.
Create Christ-centered learning environments that promote high levels of learning and achievement for all students.
Collaborate and communicate with students, parents, other educators, administrators and the faith community to support student development, learning and faith.
Assume responsibility for their professional academic/spiritual growth, performance, and involvement as an individual and as a member of a Catholic learning community.
