About The Position

St. Mary School, located at 700 South 3rd Street, in Columbus, is seeking a dedicated, faith-filled Elementary Teacher (Preschool-3rd Grade) to join our Catholic school community. The ideal candidate will create a nurturing, structured, and engaging classroom environment that supports the academic, spiritual, and social development of young learners. This teacher will integrate Catholic values and teachings into daily instruction while fostering a love of learning. The job goal is to assist students in mastering the skills and information in the school curriculum while helping them to grow in faith and responsibility.

Requirements

  • Valid teaching certification
  • Current satisfactory BCI & FBI background checks
  • Have attended or be willing to attend a Virtus Protecting God's Children training
  • Practicing Catholic or willingness to support Catholic school mission
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills
  • Appropriate state certification/license as required by the grade levels and subjects taught
  • Religious Education certification as required by the diocese

Nice To Haves

  • Early Childhood or Elementary Education background preferred
  • Experience in Preschool–Primary grades
  • Familiarity with Catholic or faith-based education

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver developmentally appropriate lessons for Preschool through 3rd Grade
  • Incorporate Catholic teachings and values into all subject areas
  • Foster a positive, faith-centered classroom environment
  • Assess student progress and maintain communication with parents/guardians
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to support the school’s mission
  • Know, understand and contribute to the integration of Catholic teachings and virtues throughout the curriculum and school culture as it supports faith formation and student learning.
  • Understand student learning, development, and faith formation while respecting the diversity of students.
  • Know and understand the content for which they have instructional responsibility.
  • Understand and use varied assessments to inform instruction, evaluate and ensure student learning.
  • Plan and deliver effective instruction that advances the learning of each individual student.
  • Create Christ-centered learning environments that promote high levels of learning and achievement for all students.
  • Collaborate and communicate with students, parents, other educators, administrators and the faith community to support student development, learning and faith.
  • Assume responsibility for their professional academic/spiritual growth, performance, and involvement as an individual and as a member of a Catholic learning community.
