About The Position

This is an anticipated contract position for a Teacher of Gifted Learners (TOGL) at Radnor Elementary School for the 2026-2027 school year. The role requires a PA Instructional certificate in Elementary Education and involves working with gifted and advanced students. Key responsibilities include identifying gifted students, coordinating their programming, serving as a resource for classroom teachers, developing individualized curricula, and ensuring appropriate educational experiences. The teacher will also be responsible for creating a challenging environment, designing instructional modifications, preparing annual educational plans, providing specialized instruction, and communicating with parents and the community regarding gifted programs. A strong commitment to gifted education and the ability to collaborate with other teachers are essential.

Requirements

  • PA Instructional certificate in Elementary Education, required
  • Experience working with gifted and advanced students
  • Knowledge of the characteristics of gifted learners
  • Knowledge of Chapter16 regulations
  • Knowledge of curriculum and instructional practices for gifted students
  • Strong commitment to gifted education and meeting the needs of gifted students
  • Ability to collaborate with teachers to create a challenging and exciting atmosphere in the regular classroom
  • Ability to differentiate curriculum and instructional materials to meet the needs of gifted and advanced learners
  • Ability to use technology for analyzing data, productivity, and communication

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in education or gifted education, preferred
  • Coursework and experience in gifted education preferred
  • Experience with elementary Math curriculum, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Stay current in PA Chapter 16 legislation, case law, and gifted education curricular, instructional, and assessment issues
  • Assist building principals, teachers, and the Office of Student Services in identification of gifted students
  • Coordinate and assist in completing the gifted identification referral process to determine students eligible for gifted programming
  • Serve as a coach and resource person for the classroom teachers, providing materials, methods, and strategies to ensure appropriate educational experiences for the gifted student in the regular classroom
  • Develop and implement a flexible, individualized, enriching curriculum appropriate to meeting the individual gifted pupil’s needs and nurturing group interaction
  • Create an environment in which the gifted learner can use their strengths, explore their personal and interpersonal development, risk new areas of thought and action and feel challenged
  • Designing and/or selecting appropriate instructional modifications for gifted and advanced students and coordinating these activities with other teachers as appropriate
  • Prepare, implement, and evaluate an annual educational plan for gifted students based on individually assessed needs in accordance with district procedures, and Chapter16 regulations
  • Provide specialized instruction to individual and small groups of gifted students
  • Provide information to community groups, and parents concerning gifted programs as requested or needed and as approved by the immediate supervisor
  • Provide ongoing and regular communication with building principals, teachers, and parents regarding classroom activities and student progress and attend open houses and other parent meetings regarding gifted children
