About The Position

The Elementary Teacher at Mount Pleasant Academy is responsible for providing daily instruction to students in a self-contained classroom setting, focusing on children with psychiatric challenges. This full-time position involves co-teaching with a team of professionals and requires RIDE certification in regular education for elementary grades. The role includes creating lesson plans, supervising teaching assistants, and participating in multidisciplinary treatment teams to support the educational and emotional needs of students.

Requirements

• Must be RIDE-certified as regular education, elementary.
• Experience with children with emotional challenges preferred.
• Experience working with elementary-aged students.
• Computer literacy.
• Possession of a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and auto insurance.

• Experience with children with psychiatric challenges.
• Ability to participate in physical crisis intervention with students.

Responsibilities

• Daily instruction of students in grades 2-5.
• Creation and implementation of daily and weekly lesson plans.
• Supervision of assigned teaching assistant.
• Participation in IEP preparation and creation.
• Administration of student educational assessments.
• Behavior management and crisis intervention.
• Participation in multidisciplinary treatment team.
• Occasional transport of students for community outings.
• Other duties as assigned.
