About The Position

10-month, full-time position for the 2026-2027 school year. Job Summary: The kindergarten classroom teacher creates a dynamic and nurturing learning environment that fosters academic excellence, social-emotional growth, and love of learning. The teacher will implement effective instructional practices to meet diverse learning needs, collaborate with Professional Learning Communities and families to ensure the success of the whole child. Essential Duties and Responsibilities : Curriculum and Instruction: Collaborate with Professional Learning Communities, and appropriate school and district-wide staff to provide comprehensive support for all students. Develop and implement engaging lessons aligned with the District 54 curriculum, and Illinois Learning Standards. Deliver high quality instruction using best practices. Collect, analyze and evaluate student progress utilizing informal and formal assessment data (classroom, district, and state). Integrate technology into instruction to enhance student learning. Classroom Management: Cultivate a welcoming, engaging and developmentally appropriate classroom community. Differentiate classroom management approaches to meet the unique social and emotional needs of all students. Foster positive peer relationships and individual development of social skills. Establish effective management to ensure the safety and well-being of all students. Teach, implement and sustain a positive behavior system. Professional Responsibilities: Participate in Professional Learning Communities to support student learning. Contribute to the school culture by positively engaging with students, staff and families. Participate reflectively in the teacher evaluation process in order to grow capacity as an educator. Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge. Build strong relationships with families to create a supportive home-school partnership. Maintain professionalism and adhere to district policies and procedures. Other responsibilities as assigned by building or district administration.
