About The Position

Shore Educational Collaborative was established in 1975 as one of 24 educational collaboratives in Massachusetts, providing public special education to students with disabilities. Over 180 students, aged 3-22, attend our school in Chelsea, receiving a comprehensive education and related services. Role and Responsibilities: Shore Educational Collaborative is hiring a Special Education Teacher to educate Elementary-Aged students with Autism and/or other developmental disabilities.

Requirements

  • Current DESE licensure in Moderate Disabilities or Severe Disabilities preferred.
  • Candidates who are close to licensure, who are eligible for licensure, or who have a different DESE license and are willing to pursue the appropriate licensure will be considered.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with students with Autism and knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized instruction to address the instructional goals and objectives contained within each student’s IEP while addressing grade-level content standards with modifications and accommodations as necessary.
  • Utilize positive reinforcement, behavior modification, and classroom routines to shape positive behaviors and create an inclusive safe environment where learning can occur both academically and socially/emotionally.
  • Implement a collaborative relationship with each student’s service providers.
  • Maintain regular communication with the families of students in your classroom regarding their progress.
  • Develop and implement Individual Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIPs) where necessary.
  • All school staff who may be expected to manage behavior must obtain and maintain certification in Shore's approved behavioral safety training program (Safety Care or equivalent). These skills are essential to ensuring the safety of all program participants and staff, and to meet state and federal requirements related to the safe implementation of behavior intervention plans.
  • This position will include a mandatory, five week annual summer program, starting with the summer of 2025. Summer pay is in addition to the salary above.
  • Teachers in Educational Collaboratives participate in the Massachusetts Teachers' Retirement System.
