Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in applicable field of education from an accredited college or university.
• Must have or be eligible for an appropriate teaching license from the Virginia Department of Education.
• Candidates with bachelor's degrees who do not hold a teaching license but have applicable education or experience may be considered for a Local Eligibility License.

Responsibilities

• Plan and provide appropriate learning experiences for students.
• Create an atmosphere conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of students.
• Supervise students in various school-related settings.
• Communicate and interact with students, parents, staff, and community stakeholders.
• Design student assessments and monitor student outcomes.
• Analyze assessment data to inform instruction.
• Develop, select, and modify instructional plans and materials to meet student needs.
• Maintain appropriate records and follow required procedures.
• Monitor the use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Instruct students using research-based instructional strategies and appropriate technology.
• Design engaging instructional experiences following curriculum guidelines.
• Deliver instruction and provide feedback to students.
• Administer assessments and record results to determine student progress.
• Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress and issues.
• Participate in faculty meetings, educational conferences, and training workshops.
• Comply with school and school board policies and regulations.
• Demonstrate professional growth and complete required records promptly.
• Coordinate class field trips and promote positive interactions among students.
