About The Position

A Public School District is seeking a dedicated and student-focused Elementary Special Education Teacher to support students in grades 1–6. Requirements

• New York State Special Education Teacher Certification (Grades 1–6) – Required
• Strong knowledge of special education best practices and instructional strategies
• Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
• Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills

• Experience working in an elementary special education setting (Preferred)
• Familiarity with inclusive classroom models and differentiated instruction (Preferred)

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality special education instruction aligned with NYS learning standards
• Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Collaborate with general education teachers, service providers, and families to support student success
• Differentiate instruction to meet diverse academic, social, and emotional needs
• Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with NYS and federal special education regulations
• Foster a positive, inclusive classroom culture that promotes student confidence and growth
• Participate in team meetings, professional development, and school initiatives
