About The Position
Knoxville Community School District is seeking qualified candidates for the following position for the 2026–2027 school year: Elementary Special Education Teacher This position is located at West Elementary. Primary Responsibilities Provide instruction and support for elementary students with diverse learning needs Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusive practices Monitor student progress and adjust instruction Build strong relationships with students and families Contribute to a positive and supportive school culture Why Join Knoxville Community Schools? Requirements
- A Bachelor's Degree
- Current Iowa License with K-6 Teacher Elementary Classroom - 102 endorsement
- K-12 Instructional Strategist II: BD/LD - 263 or K-12 Strategist I and II - All - 259
- K-12 Instructional Strategist II: ID - 264 or or K-12 Strategist I and II - All - 259
Nice To Haves
- Successful teaching experience preferred
- Reading endorsement and LETRS training preferred
Responsibilities
- Conducts assessments and diagnostic evaluations to identify student needs
- Participates in IEP meetings and develops Individualized Education Plans
- Implements IEPs and behavior intervention plans
- Collaborates with staff, families, and outside agencies
- Supports students' academic, behavioral, and social-emotional growth
- Maintains accurate records and monitors student progress
- Oversee paraeducators working with identified students
- Encourages family engagement and communication
- Participates in ongoing professional learning
- Provide instruction and support for elementary students with diverse learning needs
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusive practices
- Monitor student progress and adjust instruction
- Build strong relationships with students and families
- Contribute to a positive and supportive school culture
