About The Position

To teach elementary school pupils academic, social, and manipulative skills in public educational systems by performing the following duties. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. Instructs students in subject matter, utilizing various teaching methods, such as lecture and demonstration, and uses audiovisual aids and other materials to supplement presentations. Plans individual and group activities to stimulate growth in language, social, and motor skills such as learning to listen to instructions, playing with others, and using play equipment. Prepares teaching outline for course of study, assigns lessons, and corrects homework papers. Administers tests to evaluate pupil’s progress, record results, and issues reports to inform parents of progress. Maintain discipline in classroom and in other school activities. Plans curriculum and prepares lessons and other materials, considering factors, such as individual needs, abilities, learning levels, and physical limitations of students. Discusses pupil’s academic and behavior problems with parents and suggests remedial action. Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops. Keeps attendance and grade records. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Appropriate certification as required by the Indiana Department of Education.
  • Ability to plan and organize.
  • Skills in human relations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively before groups of students and parents.
  • Other qualifications as deemed desirable by the School Board.
