The Ferguson-Florissant School District is a community of families and neighborhoods located in suburban St. Louis, MO. Fully-accredited by the state of Missouri, the district provides an excellent comprehensive educational program for nearly 10,000 students from preschool through 12th grade. The district is comprised of seven primary schools (PreK-2), six elementary schools (3-5), two sixth grade centers, two middle schools (7-8), two high schools and one alternative school as well as a nationally-recognized early education program, the PROBE gifted education program, the award-winning Challenger Learning Center, Little Creek Nature Area, a STEAM middle school and a STEAM high school. The Ferguson-Florissant School District is accepting applications for multiple Elementary School Principal positions. Elementary principals are responsible for administering and supervising the total school program and providing instructional and operational leadership for students and staff in alignment with the District’s strategic plan. We seek leaders who are culturally, instructionally, and operationally proficient and who continuously develop these competencies to best serve all students, staff, and families. Elementary principals report directly to the Chief of School Leadership. Elementary School Principals must demonstrate the ability to: Transform the elementary school experience for students, staff, and families. Build and act on a shared vision that honors the assets and knowledge of the school community and is continually informed by student, staff, and family voice, data, research, and community input. Create and sustain a culture of care, accountability, and high expectations. Prioritize anti-racist practices through intentional processes that elevate the voices of those most marginalized and most impacted by decisions. Establish safe, welcoming environments where all students, families, and staff feel seen, heard, valued, and respected. Lead change at both the individual and systems level through collaborative school teams. Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and the ability to lead effectively under pressure while maintaining staff morale. Recruit, select, coach, supervise, evaluate, and develop staff members. Demonstrate deep knowledge of the instructional core and effective elementary instructional practices. Maintain a clear focus on equitable outcomes and sustainable success for every student. Model distributed leadership and develop teacher leaders and assistant principals. Create, implement, and monitor systems that promote trust, order, and safety. Communicate clearly, transparently, and effectively with all stakeholders. Take decisive, data-informed action to improve outcomes. Monitor and ensure high-quality instructional practices that advance learning for every student. Regularly analyze disaggregated data to identify inequities and guide instructional and organizational improvement. Build authentic relationships with students, families, and community partners, ensuring proactive and inclusive engagement opportunities. Demonstrate knowledge of District policies and procedures as well as state and federal regulations. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree and valid Missouri Administrative Certification (elementary)
  • Current knowledge of effective instructional practices
  • Knowledge or experience in the use of performance-based evaluation to improve instruction
  • Commitment to insuring that all students achieve at high levels
  • Proven instructional leadership ability
  • Management skills and ability in planning, organization, task completion and decision-making
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Must have commitment to the individual worth, dignity, potential and success of each child
  • Ability to work with, and contribute to, building a high-energy team
  • Experience with school improvement and change processes
  • Experience in data-driven decision making

Nice To Haves

  • Doctorate degree preferred
  • Elementary administative experience preferred
