About The Position

East Cooper Montessori Charter School (ECMCS) is seeking a School Counselor to join our vibrant school community. This position may be full-time serving grades K–8 or part-time serving grades K–5, depending on the candidate. At ECMCS, the School Counselor plays an important role in supporting the social-emotional growth and well-being of our students. This position is ideal for a counselor who is creative, collaborative, and proactive, and who enjoys working directly with students in classrooms as well as providing individual support. The counselor will help develop and lead a comprehensive, ASCA-aligned counseling program focused on prevention, guidance, and student growth. The ideal candidate will become an active member of our Montessori community and work both independently and collaboratively with faculty, students, and families. Our students are thoughtful, creative, and curious learners, and our counseling program reflects that same spirit of innovation, compassion, and responsiveness.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in School Counseling

  • Experience working with both elementary and middle school students is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide solution-focused, short-term counseling to students referred by teachers, administrators, and families
  • Serve as a leader during student crisis situations
  • Collaborate with administration and support teams as part of the MTSS and IPS teams
  • Facilitate attendance and truancy meetings with families to develop supportive solutions
  • Promote and support school-wide social-emotional learning (SEL)
  • Conduct classroom guidance lessons aligned with ASCA standards
  • Work closely with teachers to support students' social-emotional development
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive school counseling curriculum
  • Provide professional development for faculty and staff regarding student support
  • Serve on the school's MTSS, IPS, and Risk Assessment teams
  • Assist with MAP, CogAT, and PSAT testing
  • Conduct Individual Graduation Plan (IGP) meetings with all 8th grade students
