About The Position

The Elementary School Counselor at Lowcountry Leadership Charter School is responsible for providing both direct and indirect counseling services to students in grades K-5. This role focuses on supporting students' academic, social-emotional, and career development through individual and group counseling, classroom lessons, and collaboration with parents and staff. The counselor will also participate in program planning and support initiatives to enhance student achievement and well-being.

Requirements

  • School Counseling Certification (Preferred)
  • Experience in behavior management (1 year preferred)
  • Experience working with children (1 year preferred)
  • Experience working with students (1 year preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Offer individual counseling for academic, personal/social, and career growth.
  • Coordinate and facilitate small group and individual student sessions as a tier 2 responsive intervention.
  • Provide K-5 classroom lessons addressing student needs and ASCA standards.
  • Collect and analyze data to inform the school counseling program.
  • Communicate with parents, teachers, and administrators to support student needs.
  • Lead and implement crisis intervention and response strategies.
  • Participate in professional development to enhance the counseling program.
  • Serve as a member of the LLCS Compass Leadership Team and attend grade level meetings.
  • Collaborate with staff to support student achievement and monitor academic and behavioral difficulties.
  • Promote school counseling services to staff, parents, students, and the community.
