About The Position

This position will begin July 1, 2026 This position is split between Cottonwood Elementary School (0.75 FTE) and 4J Elementary School (0.25 FTE) The principal is responsible for all aspects of the building which includes but is not limited to: instruction, curriculum, staff supervision and evaluation, staff development, student discipline, crisis preparation, record-keeping, public relations, and maintenance of building and grounds.

  • Knowledge of technology for the purpose of facilitating student learning.
  • Ability to speak clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to weigh options, think clearly, and evaluate accurately.
  • Ability to understand and facilitate needs of various personality types.
  • Ability to make decisions with sound emotional judgement.
  • Must understand the psychological and physiological development of children.
  • Must possess the ability to see, hear, and talk in order to ascertain teacher effectiveness.
  • Must be able to walk, write, lift, and sit.
  • Must be able to concentrate with numerous interruptions.
  • Must be persuasive, alert, creative, and have patience, initiative, and reasoning.
  • Possess a Bachelor's and Master's Degree
  • Proper certification issued by the Wyoming Professional Teaching Standards Board as an Administrator or Director is required.
  • Continued professional growth.

Responsibilities

  • Provides for a safe and orderly environment.
  • Ensures that student discipline will be conducted in a manner consistent with school and school district guidelines.
  • Assumes responsibility for the overall operation of the school including the physical plant.
  • Provides for accurate record keeping in the areas of attendance, student files, achievement, safety drills, special education, and in all other phases of school life where accurate records are essential to smooth functioning.
  • Prepares and administers the budget and ensures that all monies collected and disbursements made are properly accounted form.
  • Supervises all non-certified personnel in a manner consistent with state and school district policy and guidelines.
  • Supervises all certified personnel in a manner consistent with state and school district policy and guidelines.
  • Provides for timely and straight forward communications with parents and community.
  • Assumes responsibility for recruiting and retaining a quality staff.
  • Works collaboratively with appropriate personnel in the district to develop and sustain a quality curriculum.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of instructional processes.
  • Monitors student achievement.
  • Develops and implements annual school improvement plan.
  • Oversees supervision of all student activities and programs.
  • Makes recommendations of contract status, re-employment, or termination.
  • Conducts yearly evaluations of all school staff.
  • Strives to create positive relationships with and between all personnel in the school and all public stakeholders.
  • Creates and sustain a climate of learning.
  • Make data driven decisions.
  • Promote best practices and innovation.
  • Implement the CCSD Strategic Plan.
  • Follow federal and state laws and district policies and regulations.
  • Make recommendations of student expulsion to the board of trustees.
  • Conducts follow-up studies.
  • Conducts fire, tornado, and crisis drills.
  • Serves as a liaison to city, county, state, and national agencies.
  • Attends student programs.
  • Builds master schedules.
  • Conducts monthly staff meetings.
  • Attends district meetings and functions.
  • Drafts and updates student and staff handbooks.
  • Attends special education meetings.
  • Assists in the planning and conduct of ceremonial activities.
  • Presents the school academic report.
  • Manages the various school improvement processes.
  • Oversee building professional learning communities (PLC).
  • Perform formal observations of all certified staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Deputy Superintendent.
