We are seeking a Visionary Instructional Leader to serve as the Principal of a K-8 urban charter school. This isn’t a role for a "status quo" administrator; it is a call for a relentless advocate for children who believes that academic excellence is the number one priority in a school.

Our leader’s objective must be to ensure every student in our school is equipped with the literacy, numeracy, and social emotional development required to excel and show up ready for high school and to persist through college and career. You will be the architect of this culture, the coach of our leaders, and the bridge to our community.

Requirements

• Experience: Minimum of 3 years of school leadership experience (Principal or Assistant Principal) in a high-performing urban charter or district setting.
• Proven Results: A track record of student growth in literacy and numeracy, particularly within communities of color.
• Educational Background: Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership or a related field (Required); valid State Administrator Certification (Required).
• Resourceful: Shows proficiency in the ability to solve complex problems and knows how to build teams. Demonstrates understanding of sound decision making with a sense of fairness and equity.

Responsibilities

• Literacy & Numeracy Focus: Drive a school-wide culture of academic rigor with a"laser-like" focus on foundational literacy and mathematical fluency.
• Data-Driven Instruction: Lead regular data cycles, ensuring that leadership teams and teachers can translate assessment data (formative and summative) into immediate, effective classroom pivots.
• Research-Based Strategy: Implement evidence-based instructional practices (e.g., Science of Reading, cognitively guided instruction) to ensure students are high-school ready.
• Developing Leaders: Directly manage and mentor the Instructional Leadership Team Associate Principal, Coaches, Teachers), with the goal of developing capacity of people.
• High Accountability, High Support: Create a “we all succeed” professional environment where staff are held to high performance standards through frequent observation, courageous conversations, actionable feedback that leads to accountability.
• Recruitment & Retention: Identify, hire, and retain high-performing teachers and staff who share the school’s vision for excellence.
• Inspiring Vision: Clearly articulate and embody the school’s mission, ensuring every stakeholder—from the kindergartener to the security team—understands why this work is important.
• Relational Trust: Build authentic, deep-rooted relationships with students, staff and parents. Must be visible in the hallways, classrooms, and cafeteria.
• High School & College Readiness: Ensure the K-8 experience is intentionally designed to bridge the gap to high school and long-term college and career success.
• Parent Partnerships: Produce true engagement and opportunities for parents. Foster an environment where parents are seen as essential partners in their child’s academic journey.
• Community Integration: Actively engage with the community groups, businesses, and neighborhood leaders to expand the school's resources and presence in Kansas City.
