About The Position

Lotus School for Excellence is seeking a high-energy, dedicated Physical Education Teacher to lead our K-5 fitness program. The ideal candidate will foster a love for movement, teamwork, and healthy living while maintaining a rigorous and structured environment consistent with our school’s mission and core values.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, or a related field.
  • Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Must be able to demonstrate physical activities, lift equipment up to 40 lbs, and remain on your feet for extended periods.
  • As a condition of employment, the individual selected for this position will be expected to complete the APS-sponsored Linguistically Diverse Educator (LDE) Certificate Program within the first three years of employment. New hires are expected to begin this program during the 2025-2026 school year.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive PE curriculum aligned with state standards and SHAPE America guidelines.
  • Focus on fundamental motor skills for grades K-2 and organized sports/strategy for grades 3-5.
  • Incorporate "Brain Breaks" and kinesthetic learning strategies to support classroom academic goals.
  • Differentiate instruction to ensure all students, including those with IEPs or 504 plans, are fully engaged and safe.
  • Establish and maintain high expectations for student behavior using positive reinforcement and clear routines.
  • Model the school’s core values through sportsmanship and fair play.
  • Organize and lead school-wide wellness initiatives, including Field Day, health fairs, and after-school intramural clubs.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized gymnasium and equipment storage area.
  • Track student participation and physical growth data through regular assessments.
  • Communicate proactively with families regarding student progress and wellness goals.
  • Participate in school-wide duties (arrival/dismissal, lunch monitoring) as a collaborative team member.
