About The Position

The Multilingual Education Specialist at KIPP Texas Public Schools plays a crucial role in supporting the academic and linguistic success of Multilingual Learners. This position involves leading the administration of the multilingual program, providing instructional coaching, and ensuring compliance for all emergent bilingual students on campus. The specialist will also deliver ESL instruction, engage with parents, and organize community events to foster a welcoming environment for families.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with required licensure/certification or Master's Degree in Second Language Acquisition (TESOL, ESL, Bilingual).
  • At least two years of teaching experience with Multilingual Learners in ESL or Bilingual programs.
  • Experience in coaching teachers on instructional strategies for emergent bilingual learners.
  • Knowledge of Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and English Language Proficiency Standards (ELPS).
  • Demonstrated success in advancing multilingual students' content and language skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
  • Texas teacher license with ESL or Bilingual Education endorsement.
  • Master's degree in Second Language Acquisition (ESL, Bilingual, TESOL, or related area).

Responsibilities

  • Lead professional development for teachers on English Language Development (ELD) and instructional practices for emergent bilingual students.
  • Provide ESL instruction to small groups of newcomer/beginner students for 1-2 class periods per day.
  • Monitor compliance for all emergent bilingual students and ensure timely completion of federal and state requirements.
  • Plan and execute Title III events to enhance family and community engagement.
  • Use campus data to identify areas for improvement in EB academic achievement and prioritize coaching efforts accordingly.
  • Facilitate specific EB Title III events with parents, families, and the community.
