Students will: â Gain practical experience in an educational setting â Develop skills in communication, leadership, and behavior management â Enhance understanding of numeracy instruction at the elementary level â Build professional relationships with educators and students Responsibilities may include some of the following depending on interests and skills: The Resident Instructor supports the academic development of elementary students by providing targeted assistance in mathematics. Under the guidance of Arbor School teachers and instructional staff, the Resident Instructor engages students in learning activities, reinforces key skills, and helps create a positive and inclusive classroom environment. This position also emphasizes the development and application of oral and written communication skills. Instructors are expected to articulate ideas clearly and effectively, both in one-on-one interactions with students and when collaborating with staff. Opportunities may include: â Tutoring students in foundational reading and math â Assisting in the creation of student-facing instructional materialsâ Assuming the lead role in the classroom when lead teachers are absent and communicating progress and observations to supervising teachers when lead teachers return This role offers valuable experience for students interested in education, communications, child development, or public service.
