About The Position

The Elementary Math Interventionist & Instructional Coach is a certified educator with expertise in K-5 mathematics instruction and intervention. This individual provides targeted support to students, models effective math practices, and coaches teachers to strengthen Tier I instruction. Working in close collaboration with classroom teachers and instructional leaders, the Math Interventionist & Coach promotes the use of research-based strategies that meet the diverse academic needs of all learners.

Requirements

  • Minimum of Bachelor's degree from an accredited collegiate institute.
  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate.
  • Must have experience teaching K-5 grade students in the last 3 years.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with classroom teachers to strengthen Tier I math instruction through modeling, co-teaching, and side-by-side coaching.
  • Work with students one-on-one or in small group instruction to facilitate growth in mathematics.
  • Coach staff in best practices and Math strategies.
  • Model how to work with students one-on-one or in small group instruction to facilitate growth in math.
  • Partner with support staff and teachers to support student growth in math.
  • Use data from standardized tests, standards based projects, and iReady to identify Title I eligible at-risk students in math.
  • Assist in implementing math programs that will support the delivery and continuous monitoring of effective high impact math instruction throughout the school.
  • Support teachers in implementing high-impact math practices, including the use of manipulatives, math discourse, problem-solving strategies, and differentiated instruction.
  • Serve as a resource for teachers in selecting and using effective instructional strategies that improve student achievement in mathematics.
  • Attend training sessions as directed.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the Common Core curriculum standards in English, Science, Math and Social Studies.
  • Maintain required data on individual student progress in math and disseminate data to district and school administrators, teachers, and parents at regular intervals as well as program evaluations.
  • Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and instructional teams to promote cohesive math instruction across grade levels.
  • Facilitate professional development sessions focused on math content, instructional strategies, intervention approaches, and the use of data to inform instruction.
  • Attend district and building-level professional development to stay current on research-based math practices and curriculum updates.
  • Use data from standardized assessments, district screeners (e.g., i-Ready), unit assessments, and classroom performance to identify students in need of math intervention.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of individual student progress and share data regularly with teachers, administrators, and families.
  • Meet with grade-level and building teams to review math data, discuss instructional implications, and support program evaluations.
  • Prepare reports as requested.
  • Work with the Curriculum Director and Bilingual Coordinator to plan and provide staff development training related to Math programming.
  • Perform all other duties assigned by Coaching Leader, Building Principal, Curriculum Director and/or Superintendent.
