About The Position

The Elementary Lead Teacher is given the duty of leading the classroom, along with an  associate teacher’s assistance (K-4), in instructing students on such a level as to allow them to obtain proficiency in their subject levels at a grade-appropriate level. Responsible for creating lesson plans, positive classroom management, instructs students  on subjects such as science, literature, and math, and creates a well-rounded,  comprehensive instructional program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or subject related field required; Masters strongly desired.
  • Georgia Teaching Certification is preferred, but not required.
  • Experience working with elementary age students preferred
  • Strong understanding of content
  • Working knowledge of Google Classroom and Google documents
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office or other similar programs;   Renweb experience a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills, as well as verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Must work well individually and as part of a small team; ability to interact collaboratively with parents, students and administration.
  • Passionate about working with and inspiring students.
  • Superior time management skills and the ability to consistently meet deadlines and be flexible.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time while instructing; excellent hearing abilities; physical ability to transport students from one area of a building/campus to another; physical ability to move into different learning spaces.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching subjects at an appropriate instructional level

  • Promoting student engagement in order to assess and encourage progress
  • Demonstrating accurate, up-to-date knowledge of content
  • Implementing designated curriculum
  • Maintaining lesson plans as required by school policy
  • Providing adequate information, plans and materials for substitute teachers
  • Assigning reasonable tasks and homework for students
  • Conducting assigned classes at scheduled times
  • Assuming responsibility for supervision of students in out-of-class settings, such as field trips or recess 
  • Modeling appropriate behavior in speech and actions
  • Carries all responsibility and accountability
  • Ability to handle stressful situations.
  • Must maintain confidentiality of student and school matters.
  • Effectively present information and respond to students, parents, and staff.
  • Positive management of the learning environment
  • Maintaining a healthy learning environment for the students in both the classroom as well as instruction
  • Monitoring and management of students’ behavior, including appropriate enforcement of student behavior rules
  • Following professional practices consistent with school policies in working with students, students’ records, parents and colleagues
  • Scheduling conferences according to school policies
  • Maintaining accurate, complete and appropriate records and files
  • Model professional and ethical standards and practices consistent with school policies when dealing with students, parents, peers in both speech and actions.
  • Be evaluated throughout the year through informal and formal classroom observation.
  • Participate in training and professional development; goal setting with supervisor
  • Showing support and high esteem for School at all times.
  • Attending and participating in faculty meetings and other assigned meetings and activities according to school policy.
  • Complying with conditions as stated in employee agreement and handbook.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Head of School or Assistant Head of School or Academic Chair, such as carpool, lunch coverage, chapel check ins.
