About The Position

The ESL Curriculum Committee is a year-long curriculum project designed to build teacher leadership capacity while adapting and enhancing curriculum and resources for our ESL program. Committee members will work collaboratively to align already identified curriculum and priority texts to WIDA standards across content areas, with consideration to key language uses, language expectations, and instructional routines. This is an opportunity for experienced and emerging ESL educators to deepen their expertise in ESL curriculum and WIDA standards alignment PROGRAM STRUCTURE Timeline: November 2025 - July 2026 (9 months) Time Commitment: 60 - 80 hours total 20 - 30 hours of collaborative meetings (with possibilities of meeting after school in person and/or virtual, up to two days over February and April break, and up to 3 days at the end of the school year- the team will schedule collectively) 40 - 50 hours independent curriculum work

Requirements

• Current Elementary ESL teacher providing instruction to ISEI EL students or Elementary Language Acquisition Coach
• Massachusetts ESL license
• Experience teaching Elementary ESL - Wonders
• Willingness to learn and apply WIDA standards
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
• Commitment to contributing to department-wide curriculum coherence

Responsibilities

• Align ESL units/priority texts and writing tasks to WIDA Standards
• Identify Key Language Uses and Language Expectations
• Update Elementary ESL Scope and Sequence, Priority Text/Writing Tasks, and unit resources to align with changes/newly identified standards, key language uses, and language expectations
• Participate in peer review and revision cycles
• Attend all collaborative meetings with Pre-k-12 Bilingual Coordinator and other Curriculum Committee members
• Collaborate in structured peer review and provide constructive feedback on colleagues' curriculum drafts
