The Elementary English Assistant Teacher works closely with assigned grade room teachers to support the English literacy goals of the class and provide supervisory assistance of children. This is a full-time, non-exempt position working 40 hours Monday to Friday from 8:30am – 5:00pm, and reports to the Head of Elementary.

Requirements

Joy in working with children and assisting their progress.
Bachelor’s Degree in education or a related field, or in the process of obtaining preferred.
Contagious enthusiasm and charisma, the ability to engage and inspire students, parents, and colleagues.
Fluency in English required, Mandarin preferred.
Strong knowledge of child development and a passion to grow in the field.
A commitment to reflective practice, and an openness to continual professional development.
Creativity, excellent multitasking skills, and ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial start-up environment.
Outstanding verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

At least 6 months teaching experience is desirable.
Knowledge of Progressive Education and early literacy development preferred.

Responsibilities

Interact with children using positive, supportive, respectful, and open-minded attitude, language and tone.
Maintain visual and auditory supervision of children at all times to ensure their safety in the classroom, on the playground, and on field trips.
Collaborate with the lead English teachers to prepare and organize learning materials.
Support students and English Teachers in developing their English literacy skills. Support lead English teachers’ lessons through individual student support and small group supervision during learning centers.
Get to know students individually in order to support their social, emotional and academic growth.
Support early care and dismissal activities.
Participate in reflection and coaching activities.
Performs additional duties as directed.

The full-time salary range is $27.50 to $38.00 per hour. Salaries are set according to years of experience and degrees earned.
