About The Position

Elementary Grade Level Leaders provide instructional leadership and professional development opportunities related to the curriculum, assessment, and instruction for district-wide grade level teams. They are responsible for collaborating with the Director of Curriculum and Student Learning and other Central Office staff members to coordinate grade level elementary professional development and curriculum initiatives. Elementary Grade Level Leaders should be prepared to provide support and lead reflection around district curricular initiatives such as Amplify CKLA, Illustrative Math, the Eight Mathematical Practices and Mathematical Teaching Practices, Mystery Science, SEL, Social Studies units, literacy initiatives, and NWEA MAP and mClass assessments.

  • Understanding of and ability to support the implementation of resources and programs at specific grade level
  • Ability to work with a grade-level partner(s) to plan, facilitate and coordinate professional development activities for district grade-level teams
  • Ability to differentiate presentation materials to be inclusive of all special programs (i.e., special education, ESL)
  • Current Urbana School District #116 Employee

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Director of Curriculum and Student Learning and others in the Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment Department to prepare, implement, and evaluate district staff development on elementary in-service days
  • Work as a liaison between buildings and the Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment Department
  • Communicate positively and clearly with a wide variety of administrators, teachers, and Central Office personnel, including preparing updates after elementary in-service days
  • Plan and implement professional development for Opening Institute Day and quarterly Staff Development Days.
  • Plan and implement one after-school professional development workshop or book discussion per year (can be done individually or with another Elementary Grade Level Leader)
  • Communicate session topics, products, and session notes for each grade level meeting, and additional professional development opportunities via shared Google Doc Summary
  • Additional duties as assigned by the Director of Curriculum and Student Learning
