About The Position

The Springfield Public Schools is seeking a highly qualified educator to join our team. The position involves meeting and instructing assigned classes, planning a program of study tailored to the individual needs of students, and creating a conducive learning environment. The educator will guide the learning process towards achieving established curriculum goals, prepare for classes, employ various instructional techniques, assess student accomplishments, maintain accurate records, and follow the district's code of conduct. Additionally, the educator will participate in professional growth, attend meetings, and contribute to district decisions regarding budget and curriculum.

Requirements

  • Highly qualified with required competency in the content area.
  • Appropriate content/program area educator license (Elementary) and grade level (1-6) licensure from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
  • Bachelor's Degree with appropriate license.
  • Master's Degree with appropriate content area license preferred and/or expected within 5 years.

Responsibilities

  • Meets and instructs assigned classes in designated locations and times.
  • Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
  • Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Guides the learning process toward established district curriculum goals.
  • Prepares for classes and shows written evidence of preparation upon request.
  • Employs a variety of instructional techniques and media.
  • Implements the district's philosophy of education and performance expectations.
  • Assesses student accomplishments and provides progress reports.
  • Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law and district policy.
  • Diagnoses learning challenges of students and seeks assistance from specialists.
  • Takes precautions to protect students and materials.
  • Follows the code of conduct and develops classroom behavior rules.
  • Plans and supervises assignments for paraprofessionals.
  • Maintains a program of professional growth.
  • Participates in the teacher evaluation process.
  • Attends building and district meetings.
  • Participates in school-sponsored activities.
  • Contributes to district and building decisions regarding budget and curriculum.
  • Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
